On Thursday, Nov. 15, Liz of The Red Soil Project, Rotarian from Calgary Sarcee, Eston and Chisomo of Kusamala as well as Cynthia of Salama Shield Foundation expanded our horizons by networking and fellowship at Rotary Bwaila at the Cross Roads Hotel.
Trust me, it was hilarious!!! At the beginning, it was only the guests and the Club President, Gift Dula and despite the fact that most of the Rotarians came in late, we felt really welcomed and enjoyed that section of “only guests attending a Rotary Club meeting.”
After most of the members arrived the meeting started and the Club President presided over the deliberations. Then the guests were officially welcomed and introduced to the club by the Rotarians who invited them . Liz introduced Eston, Chisomo and Cynthia and later they were given a chance to say a few words on what their organizations do. There was an overwhelming response and the membership seemed interested in the activities of both organizations.
The Club President presented the current club project to the meeting and later asked for updates from the membership. Following this introduction, the Projects Director presented some of the activities that the Rotary Club of Bwaila has done in its five years of existence. Wow!! they have done a lot in a short time. That tells me they are a very active and committed too. It is also interesting to note that they are small club with an active membership of about 18 people.
Well, many thanks to Liz for introducing us to this wonderful platform and the entire membership of Rotary Club of Bwaila. We look forward attending more meetings and becoming lasting members.
